"Kirtan music is a form of devotional singing originating in India that is gaining popularity in the Western world.
A broad definition of kirtan music is a gathering
emphasizing participatory, transformational music. The word “kirtan” comes from Sanskrit and specifically refers to the practice of singing mantras."
Kirtan is about what's in our hearts, not how "well" we sing!
This Kirtan jam session will be a FULL two hours of Kirtan, super low-key and all-acoustic, and we'll likely be in the gorgeous upstairs space that is painted in a mural of sky blue with white clouds and amazing acoustics.
We won't have to lift our voices *that* high to reach the heavens, in other words.
I'll have a number of mantras planned for us but feel free to bring your favorites to share too or send me any requests directly beforehand (with advance notice).
All levels of experience are very welcome!
Note: I have LOTS of small percussion and other instruments that I'll bring, but please bring any of your own instruments too...and yes, YOU count as an instrument...the most important one!
Tea, coffee, and water provided.
Please feel free to share this event with others and so looking forward to chanting, dancing, playing instruments, and co-creating an amazing evening with you all!
